What's ISRO Faced In Lockdown ?


ISRO announced the Gaganyaan, Chandrayaan-3 (India's third moon mission) and ten launches have been delayed due to spread of "Covid 19" pandemic around India.


That pandemic induced lockdown decides the delay in human spaceflight program and moon mission, ISRO chairman Dr. Sivan said. 


The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will initiate to evaluate the impact of

lockdown on its missions, Dr. K Sivan said. 


Earlier, the ISRO chief added that the space agency had planned 10 launches and another important mission reflects its own necessity for the country but inconvenience caused to ISRO. 


Due to lockdown period various industrial activities and functioning have not yet started, that's why they impact ISRO projects and launches. After the COVID-19 resolved ISRO made an assessment to ensure about Gaganyaan, Chandrayaan-3 and other launches.


In the last few months all industries had been shut down, that's why working on missions and launches scheduled to be postponed till ISRO facility not available for working. 


Latest Announcements From ISRO !


The ISRO uses manufacturing parts from private sectors to build launch vehicles and another design & development purpose. ISRO is dependent on the private sector for manufacturing equipment for its launch. 


The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) which provide various parts and equipment to the ISRO are among the worst-affected due to the lockdown.


We have to assess the impact of the lockdown on Gaganyaan All the ISRO missions (including Gaganyaan) have been impacted, we will just start working as lockdown released, Dr. Sivan said.


India's PM Narendra Modi, announced the mission Gaganyaan last year, the human space mission, envisages to send three Indians to space by 2022. 


ISRO mission Gaganyaan has four test pilots selected for this mission are currently undergoing training in Russia, but even that was impacted due to coronavirus lockdown in the country. 


Earlier, the hard landing of Chandrayaan-2 last year, ISRO had planned to launch Chandrayaan-3, which was scheduled to be launched later this year.
